Dr. Ghafoor
completed his psychiatric residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington
D.C. He then proceeded with a fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry,
followed by another fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry. Dr. Ghafoor is Board
Certified in General Adult Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Forensic
Psychiatry; he is Board Eligible in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He has
been licensed to practice medicine in the states of Arizona, Georgia, Maryland,
Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. After engaging in
private practice for several years, Dr. Ghafoor has now been working as the
Chief of Forensic Psychiatry at the Arizona State Hospital since 1998. He has
served as the President of medical staff both at a private psychiatric hospital
and the state hospital. He is an active member of the American Academy of Child
& Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.
